About the Village of Badachro
Badachro is a small hamlet on the south side of the Gairloch, in Wester Ross in the Scottish Highlands. With the sea to the west and north, the Torridon mountains to the east, Loch Torridon to the south, the village is located at (exactly) 57.6992N, 7.7338 W. (sorry, that comes from our love of sailing around the Hebrides)!
A magical place
We may be a long way from (almost) everywhere, but that’s what makes the area so very special. We’re honoured to live in one of the last true wilderness areas in Europe, with pitch dark night skies where the stars are at times almost blindingly bright, an arm of our Milky Way galaxy streaks above and the Aurora Borealis dances in the sky regularly.
The rain falls through the unpolluted air (sometimes almost horizontally!) to land on the wild, unfarmed land where heather, eagles and deer make their homes. Clarity, purity and freshness abound… and provide resource for making fantastic gin!
